How do i paint this with a gloss finish?

I have an old moped gas tank i want to repaint. It's pretty scratched up but still has most of the paint with a nice smooth finish. I want to repaint it and keep the same surface feeling like on a new car. My previous experiences with spray paint glosses ended up not feeling like the real thing. Is there a special kind you would use for metal? Please advise what direction to take in repainting my gas tank.How do i paint this with a gloss finish?
It's all about preparation and taking lots of time with every step. First, get the tank blasted with a soft media like walnut shells. Sand it down properly, then get a paint to match, spray it with a few light coats to get a good coverage, wet sand it with very fine paper usually 1000-2000 grit, then clean it properly, and clear coat it with a few coats, let it dry for a couple of days then wet sand lightly again, let it sit for a day or so, and use a wax sealer, then a good wax on it
