How do i paint this with a gloss finish?

I have an old moped gas tank i want to repaint. It's pretty scratched up but still has most of the paint with a nice smooth finish. I want to repaint it and keep the same surface feeling like on a new car. My previous experiences with spray paint glosses ended up not feeling like the real thing. Is there a special kind you would use for metal? Please advise what direction to take in repainting my gas tank. How do i paint this with a gloss finish?
It's all about preparation and taking lots of time with every step. First, get the tank blasted with a soft media like walnut shells. They take only paint off of a metal surface without damaging the metal. See your favorite blaster for his or her suggestion. Next, consider smoothing the surface with a light filler material to take out small imperfections in the tank. Finally apply the paint with many light coats and lots of sanding and wet sanding. Your final sanding should be with 1000 and high grit sand paper and plenty of rubbing and polishing compound. Good LuckHow do i paint this with a gloss finish?
Sand it down properly, then get a paint to match, spray it with a few light coats to get a good coverage, wet sand it with very fine paper usually 1000-2000 grit, then clean it properly, and clear coat it with a few coats, let it dry for a couple of days then wet sand lightly again, let it sit for a day or so, and use a wax sealer, then a good wax on it
