What is the best way to cover up simi & high gloss paint?

I painted my bathroom 10 years ago. With simi %26amp; high gloss paint. Now I want to change the colors. Can I use a different kind of paint or do I have have to use simi or high gloss to cover it up?What is the best way to cover up simi %26amp; high gloss paint?
If they are semi or high-gloss paints, I assume they are enamel. What you need to do, if you want to use something other than semi or high-gloss again, is to lightly sand the walls (you'll need to 'roughen' the surface so paint will bond over enamel), then re-prime the walls, and I recommend KILZ for this, just because it will bond better than most other primers. Then you can paint over it with anything you want. I DO recommend, however, a good WASHABLE paint, and something that is moisture-resistant. Do NOT use a latex flat--I recommend Satin for bathrooms or kitchens. The worst thing about high-gloss paints and enamels, is they will show EVERY little flaw in the wall-- nail heads, taped joints, etc. If you want more specific advice on any particular paint, simply talk to any employee at your local paint or hardware store. What is the best way to cover up simi %26amp; high gloss paint?
Get a primer and then paint a flat over it, be sure not to try to paint latex over oil because it will not take. Talk to the paint guys at Home Depot for the best information!
Go to Home Depot and ask for T.S.P.

Wash your walls with it then rinse. Allow it to dry. Paint whatever you so desire.

T.S.P removes the shine from the wall allowing any paint to stick to it without having to use primer. Every painter knows this.
I would recommend you use a prime coat then you can put whatever paint on it. Im a painter!
Primer it then paint again. Be sure to atleast use a satin paint to help with moisture.
Use primer paint. Then cover it with whatever color you want.
Lightly sand the walls where the high gloss paint is. If the walls are stained/mildew you MUST clean with a mildew remover first. Wipe any sanding dust off the walls. Let walls dry very well, no showers for at least 12 hours prior to painting. Apply a good quality primer that works for all types of interior paint. Let dry. You can now apply any sheen of paint you wish.
Use a sealer and allow it to dry and then apply the paint you would like to use. Check with home depot for the sealer, by the way the sealer will not allow the original paint color to bleed through.
sand and then use a primer then paint as you like it.
what you can do is paint over with a primer base paint .that will give the new coat a 'tooth' to cling to.i suggest that you have the primer tinted the same shade as the finish coat!
