What's the difference between Vaseline and lip gloss in terms of appearance?

My school is a non-makeup school, but I've just been a bit confused over the difference between Vaseline and lip gloss in appearence-they will let you have Vaseline but not lip-gloss.What's the difference between Vaseline and lip gloss in terms of appearance?
Vaseline isn't as shiny and softens and helps chapped lips. Whereas lip gloss if purely for beauty

Vaseline is more moisterizing and lip gloss is just like vaseline but there r lots of other kinds of lip gloss, such as plumping, etc. What I would do is take some vaseline, and a drop of lipgloss and mix them together, that way it will be like lip gloss, but not exactly lip gloss, so if a teacher says, is that lip gloss, you can b like to it vaseline. And u can also take vaseline and but a TINY bit of food coloring into the vaseline.
As far as how it looks, lip gloss looks a little shinier than Vaseline (if you're talking about clear gloss), and sometimes there is color and glitter in lip gloss. I'm pretty sure you could get away with a clear gloss or something super sheer and naturally colored.
Vaseline: It sooths your lips e.g. if you have cracked lips. And its also adds moisture to them.





Lip Gloss: I consider this more of a going out make-up as it can make you lips more fuller and very glossy.





Vaseline is more of a everyday care for you lips.

Vaseline can be classed under 'medical' because it's like a moisture for your lips, and a treatment for dry %26amp; cracked lips - probably why they allow it. Vaseline is my staple though! I love it, use it way more than I use lippy/gloss
Lip gloss contains a colour, so you can tint your lips a different colour as well as making them look shiny and protecting them. Vaseline just protects and makes them shiny (so it is great if you like the colour of your lips)
Vaseline is plain white which helps to protect your lips from damage or getting dried





Lip gloss can be any colour and its usally used to highlight the colour of your lips and make it shinny ;)

vaseline would be classed as medical use, remoisten lips, provent chapped lips.





thats why they allowd it, nothing to do with how it looks.
Vaseline takes care of your skin and makes your lips look natural but lip gloss i suppose leaves a colour tint and makes your lips look shiny and glossy
Vaseline helps your lips but doesn't give it a glossy look more of a greasy where as lip gloss don't help or destroy the lips lol but gives your lips a shine and even a shimmer to making them look fuller
