What's the best way to remove gloss from wrought iron?

I am trying to restore an old wrought iron fire place and mirror which some philestine has covered in white gloss. I have got a lot off with peeling and a wire wool brush, but now its getting more delicate.I have been advised to use white spirits - has anyone done this? does it work? Thanks. What's the best way to remove gloss from wrought iron?
you can buy non chemical paint stripper bur the chemical one is better get some thick plastic gloves paint the stuff on and use the wire woll and a scraper to remove the paint. What's the best way to remove gloss from wrought iron?
White spirit is not strong enough. Use paint stripper.
Nitromors paint stripper, wear goggles and gloves, but believe me, it works.
you can get a good paint stripper for the job that's the best way to do it
caustic soda warm but wear gloves and do it outsid and leave in a bath submerged for 3 to 4 days .
petrol
If it is a good piece worth doing right then have it sand blasted. It is not as dear as you may think.
normal paint stripper will remove it, and will not damage the fire place
