How do you repair dents to a white gloss table?

Afternoon all. I have bought a table on clearance. It was a bargain, but was one for a reason. It has a chip. How can I make it less noticeable? How do you repair dents to a white gloss table?
a picture is worth 1000 words this way we could see the actual damage before we give the best repair options. there are plenty of wood-workers on this site that can help you ..but not with limited information we need to know things such as the present texture finish; is it laquer coated, is it formica laminated , is it veneer laminated, the type of wood, is it a catalyzed paint finish or the adhesive gloss paper, etc..How do you repair dents to a white gloss table?
If the table is wood, you can repair it easily.

Buy a tube of wood putty. Fill the chipped area with putty. (It's better to over-fill it than to under-fill it.)

Allow the putty to cure overnight.

Sand the repaired area, first with medium sand paper and then with fine sand paper.

It's also better to over-sand than to under-sand.

If the repair seems smooth, re-paint the table including the repaired area. I suggest floor paint with a gloss finish. Floor paint is more durable than regular paint.

If you paint the table and realize the repair is still noticeable, add more wood putty to the repair and start the process again.

You can get wood putty and floor paint at any hardware store.

You will probably have to re-paint the whole table in order to get the repair to blend, but just a quart of paint should be more than enough to do the job.
First, it would help to know what sort of 'chip' it is. If it is a 'potato chip' it could need a bit of cheese. If it is a fried chip a bit of fish may be a good filler. Is this help-full ? It is a bit difficult to know these days.
Is it a table with a formica top that is chipped, or is it a lacquered white table?
it depends on the finish if the finish has been sprayed on then its not an easy fix like the previous answer suggests its difficult to answer the question properly without assessing....
I made the mistake causing a chip in a glass table, and believe me my roommate at the time let me know about it.
Read answer number two... It reads like someone knows what they are writing about...
Put a coaster on it.
