What is the best thing to use to seal good wood with before adding the clear gloss top coat?

I am working on a nice oak table that was hand made and I want the end result to look like wet glass. What is the best thing to use to seal good wood with before adding the clear gloss top coat?
Starting with bare wood, you want to use sandpaper and start with coarse grades and work your way up to finer and finer grades.

You must use a sanding block, using your hands without a block will result in dips waves and ridges on the table top.

Remember, all the effort is in the prep work.

Once you have the whole tble sanded to about 320 grit, apply several coats of sanding sealer that is reccomended for the final finish product you are using.

Sand lightly with fine sandpaper between each coat, and use rags and tack cloths to remove all sanding residue.

Then start applying the clear gloss top coats. I reccomend at least 3 or 4 coats for good results. Do not be in a rush, I prefer to let each coat dry at least a couple of days bewtween each coat to harden and cure up.

Good luck! What is the best thing to use to seal good wood with before adding the clear gloss top coat?
Handrub the table with tongue oil. Let it soak in and dry. Then use a high gloss, spar varnish. It is durable and waterproof.

When applying the varnish, use a pure bristle brush. Brush one way, with the grain of the wood. Sand lightly between coats and put three coats on.
